Cannot Access Website

  My website lostcoastoysters.com has completely locked me out of accessing the Dashboard. I have the domain hosted through GoDaddy and use a WordPress Managed whatever to build my website. This is not my forte. Please do not use excess technical jargon to solve my problem.

  I use lostcoastoysters.com/wp-admin to access the Dashboard. The password for this login has been saved on my desktop computer for YEARS. I have never changed the password. Today, it decides to stop accepting my password. So I figure, no big deal, I’ll just click this link to reset. FALSE. It never sends me a link to reset.

  Heres where it gets even weirder. I can login to http://www.wordpress.com with no issues. Except, when I do so it says I have no websites. The website lostcoastoysters.com is still active and it seems to be functioning just fine. What the hell is going on?

  Hi there,

  The WordPress you’re using for your site at GoDaddy and WordPress.com are not the same thing.

  WordPress.com is a hosting provider, like GoDaddy. You have a username account with us, created in December 2019, but this account has never owned any sites hosted with us.

  For your site at GoDaddy, you’re using the open source WordPress software made by the community on WordPress.org. We don’t have any access to that site, so we’re not able to help you reset the password from our end.

  If the password reset email sent by your site isn’t coming through, you can also set a new password by accessing the database directly. You should have an option to do this via your hosting control panel at GoDaddy. But if you’re on their Managed WordPress hosting, they might even be able to reset the password for you, so I suggest you contact GoDaddy support first.

  Failing that, you can find the password reset instructions for your version of WordPress at https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/, and you can ask the WordPress.org community for advice in their forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

  Note that before you can post in those forums you’ll need to register an account on WordPress.org – neither your WordPress.com account nor your site admin account’s credentials will work to log in there.
