cannot access website. (Site is under development)

Hello. I started this website today, and I was able to get into it for a while, but for the last 5-6 hours, it says “This site is under development,” and has some sort of a security issue. I am unable to open the webpage from any device. I seem to be able to edit it just fine.
I’ve checked the suggestions I’ve found so far: time on computer is correct. name servers were pointed to the WordPress account, although now they are going through cloudfire in hopes of fixing the SSL error.

Can someone help me figure out whats wrong? I dont know anything about this stuff yet. Its my first website.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

at some point I had set site to private, I have corrected that. original problem persists.

I am seeing views building various pages of my site. Can someone verify if this site is working for them? I cannot access it with any device in my house.

    Thank you.

Hi. This is what I’m seeing:

    Adler Burrows
    Writer, Father, Husband, Neanderthal

I can see all of your pages, but the only content is on your ‘Blog’ page… “Under Construction”. I’ll tag this with a ‘modlook’ so one of the WordPress staff will eventually get here to help you. Hope you get this fixed soon.

Yeah, as was able to fiddle around on it a bit while I was at work for a few hours, but as soon as I got home, it was all inaccessible. I havent been able to do anything on it yet at all.

    Thank you for the help.

  • I am seeing adlerburrows.com and burrows.website point correctly to your WordPress.com site.

It can take 24-48 hours for domain/DNS changes to propagate throughout the internet. It typically happens faster than that, but it really depends on your ISPs update frequency. If you are still not seeing the correct site appear after 48 hours has elapsed, please contact me again.

Also, Your browser may be looking at a cached version of the page. You can try either clearing your cache, using a different browser, or loading the page and then holding the shift key while you click reload/refresh.

Also, do let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

I have cleared cache. I have tried using firefox and chrome. I’ve been refreshing and retrying for around 9 hours now.

And the DNS changes would be a good bet, but that I was able to use this website with alderburrows.com a good bit this morning, and then it stopped working.

I do have a message saying that the site is not secure next to my address when i try to navigate to it. Thats on every device in the house.

  • I would give it another 24 hours. DNS changes can make things act strange while they are updated.

So I can turn off my wifi on my phone and load this page normally, but connected to my network, I get the development page. How do I get my network to stop blocking my website?

I can change my DNS to use Googles public DNS address 8.8.8.8 and my site loads off that device. Is this a safe practice, or do I need to continue to look for another solution?

  • I’m afraid that I cannot give you advice on network/system security practices. That is a bit out the scope of support we can give here.

That said, I remain with my previous advice. Give things a day or two to make sure the DNS changes have propagated through the internet and then make sure you are not viewing cached files.
