Cannot access wordpress site after switching blog address to domain name

I have the wordpress.com Premium plan. I want my blog to reflect my domain name, which I will call mydomainname.com. rather than my wordpress address myname.wordpress.com.
I saw the following option in My Blogs: Tip: You’re one step away from using mydomainname.com as your blog address. Click here to activate mydomainname.
However, when I activated this address as my blog address, when I test the mydomainname.com domain from a different machine, I cannot access it. Please help.

I went to your site, and found that it was loading properly as seen in the screenshot below:
It can take some time to propagate. If you find that it is still not loading properly, can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?

I undid the change due to not being able to access the site, so I would expect that your test would work. The problem was that when I activated my domain name as my blog address, the domain became unavailable.

Thanks, Grace, I am going to try again this weekend. Need help with a few other issues, but want to make sure this one is resolved first.

I tried once again to use annehansonwriter.com as my blog address and got the same undesired result: No end users can access annehansonwriter and I also cannot access annehanson.wordpress.com, as the system attempts unsuccessfully to connect to annehansonwriter.
Please advise soonest.

I have undoing this change, due to my web site now being totally unavailable. Please let me know when someone is available to work with me in real time to resolve this issue.

I’m a bit confused as to your situation as your site is up and running as seen here:
Can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?
If you can’t find your site after that, can you try on different browsers like Chrome or Firefox?
If it’s down on all 3 browsers, please take a screenshot and upload it to your Media > Library page and I’d be happy to take a look.

My site is back up as of 15-FEB-15, because I was finally able to change the blog address back to annehanson.wordpress.com.
The issue, as stated previously, is that when I change the blog address to annehansonwriter, the site becomes totally unavailable. This is the problem I need real time help with.
Just FYI, I use a number of different browers for testing and am very familiar with clearing cache, cookies, etc.

Yes, currently your domain: annehansonwriter.com is not pointing to us at WordPress.com. It is pointing to Yahoo. You can see your nameservers here:
https://who.wildwestdomains.com/whoisstd.aspx?domain=annehansonwriter.com&prog_id=wildwestdomains
Update that to:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
Please contact your registrar and update them.
