Cannot achieve the line spacing I need
-
I have spent/wasted the best part of an hour trying to get the line spacing right. It looks fine till I preview then it closes some gaps, especially some needed to separate stanzas of a poem. Have tried several ways to achieve what I want. Sometimes it’s almost right, I alter one section, press ‘preview’ then it reverts to what it was before! Am slowly going bald here!!! Surely clicking on the enter tab produces a gap!

Hi!
Can you let me know the title of the post you’re having trouble with?
Also, have you seen the preformatted text guide we have here?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/advanced-html/#preformatted-text
Many poetry writers have found that useful!

Thanks for getting back to me Jeremy. It’s my recent one, ‘Our dash’ which I ended up publishing cos it was as close as I could get to what I wanted. There’s still a line break needed in the second poem which is impossible to achieve in ‘preview’ though it’s there in my draft!
Achieving a double line space after my blog and before the credits which I like to have, is another problem. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don’t. It’s a trial and error thing and I’m ‘leaving sleeping dogs’ at the mo, cos I at least have that one. Will check out the above. There was talk on the forum of checking the URL version not the visual one but that looked like gobbledegook to me! Am not very technically competent! Tried
in the text as someone else suggested and that was printed in the preview! Thank you… -
that’s interesting. I’d typed ‘typing < [followed by the letters] br [then another] >’ and it moved everything down a line!! Hmmm…

Well that explains a lot and why the spacing gets striped out every time I return to edit! Could leave line spacing till last then!

Regarding the Visual vs. Text Editor, you’ll want to do a bit of formatting in the Text Editor to make sure your post looks just right. Here’s a bit more about that Editor:
I promise it’s not as intimidating as it look! Happy to answer any questions you have about it.
I took a look at the post you mentioned, and it looks like you were able to get the spacing you’re looking for before the credits:
Is that how you would like it to look?
If you’re having other spacing-specific issues let me know! I’m happy to take a look.
