Cannot add category: “You don’t have permission to do that”
-
Hi,
When I try to add a new category to my wordpress blog, I get an error that says “You don’t have permission to do that.” I am able to write a post–why can’t I add a category? -
Update: the problem only occurs when I am using my Ubuntu box. From my Windows XP box, I was able to add my desired category. On both boxes, I am using Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3.

Searching the forums, it seems that the only solution is to log out of WordPress, clear all private data from the browser (cache, cookies, etc.), close and restart the browser, log back into WordPress, and try again.
However, after doing all that, I still am unable to add a category using Firefox 2.0.0.3 on Ubuntu 6.10. I still get the same error: “You don’t have permission to do that.”
I will contact Support during the week. In the meantime I am able to work around it my using by Windows box (as much as I hate to say it). I am using the same browser and version, so it’s not likely the browser.

It’s usually an issue with the AJAX javascript clashing when it’s being used from another site which is why we usually suggest the browser clearing.
