cannot add new post in Firefox 3
-
When I try to add a new post in Firefox 3.0.5 in WinXP, there is a problem loading the page that prevents me from posting. IE7 on the same machine works fine. At first, the page appears normally. There is a spinner in the category area suggesting it’s loading something. Then, the page goes blank, and I see a row of unstyled html buttons across the top. Shortly after, it goes blank again and I see two unstyled html lists, and the browser indicates that it is loading. It sits there for a long time with no change.
When I look at the history, I see that I started on
http://mcrusch.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php (this is the link I clicked)
And then I see two more entries that were some sort of redirection, and which I assume correspond to the two different screens I saw later:
wyciwyg://17/http://mcrusch.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
wyciwyg://18/http://mcrusch.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpI wasn’t seeing this the last time I posted (months ago), which was before the interface changes.

try clearing your browser and cache. I have FF3 and WinXP and I’m able to post, posts without a problem.

It’s working now. I didn’t do anything. Interesting…
Thanks for the tip, aw, I didn’t get a chance to try it since it’s working now…

Long story short. In my case (which was exactly the same described here) I found out it was a bug in Firebug Firefox add-on. There’s something broken in the Firebug 1.4.0a10 and up. I reverted back to 1.4.0a9 and it’s all good.
So if you’re using the Firebug 1.4 alpha build, don’t update to the latest version.
To grab an older build go to http://getfirebug.com/releases/firebug/1.4/
