Cannot add new topic
-
I was beginning to think no-one liked me because yesterday I made several forum submissions (on the subject of the new reply box) which were apparently being ignored by the volunteers. I haven’t been rude in the past, so it was a bit of a mystery.
I then decided to add a new topic….. However, on submitting the new topic, I was immediately told the topic was closed. I could also see that the topic is 41 years old, posted by anonymous.
I can however see my forum submissions, including the new topics, in my submission list associated with my user.
I have therefore created a new user and blog (with a new email address) in an attempt to make myself seen on the forum. Hope it works…..
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s odd, but it sometimes happens if you post too frequently (like, more than me!) or if you drop too many links in your posts. Contact staff via your dashboard to get it straightened out.
-
Having succeeded in adding a new forum topic, I had a look in the topics that I submitted to last night. Sure enough they’re not visible. Was beginning to get paranoid.
-
Sorry raincoaster, are we talking about the same thing? I could not add new topics to this forum. My blog is fine.
Also my forum postings were visible to me, but no-one else.
-
If you start several threads on the same topic you tend to get ignored, just the way life works – sometimes people ask a question that nobody knows much about and it might take a while before someone stops by with an answer – if someone asks a question that I don’t know much about I will usually pass and not confuse someone – giving a junk answer is I think worse than no answer – most of the support is provide by your fellow bloggers and are unpaid volunteers.
-
Yes, we’re talking about the same thing. It’s called being Bozo’d. You can see it, but nobody else can. It’s a tool used against spammers. Sometimes volunteers get caught in it when they drop too many links to related articles etc. Staff will fix it.
-
Thanks.- I hadn’t heard of that before. However, I rarely post on the forum – only when I have a real problem that I can’t solve. I certainly never spam.
auxclass – its not that people are ignoring me – my submissions are invisible (literally). I have submitted this with a new user and new email address.
-
I have a feeling that staff do not see me when I contact them either! I contacted Akismet on many occasions without reply. Have also contacted staff occasionally without success.
-
They generally don’t reply, they just fix the problem. I wish they didn’t work that way, but they do.
-
I have gotten trapped in the spam filter system that @raincoaster mentioned – when one of my answers tripped their automatic filter – it can be confusing and frustrating as you can see your post but nobody else can – and it can take a while to get unstuck even when I am active in the forum on a regular basis and the moderators recognize my name –
Good luck with your questions
-
Yes auxclass – it may be something to do with that. Some time ago I was in contact with staff because the contact-form in my blog didn’t work. Staff reported that everyone’s message was going into their spam filter! No solution was found and therefore I have had to stop using the contact-form.
OK – I have contacted staff about this issue. I got an automated reply telling me that it has been submitted. It also gave me a link to the topic in the forums (this is a new section?). Needless to say that new topic is closed (and is 41 years old ha ha ha)
