Cannot Add Social Media Buttons To Sidebar

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hey there,
    I’m using the Forever theme and trying to add custom social media icons to my siderbar starting with my pinterest.

    I currently have a link in my sidebar, but when I try to replace that link via the custom CSS box with this

    #page #access #text-3 a,
    #page #access #text-3:hover > a {
    background: #fff url(http://caitandtherealworld.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/zpsjfvhrpu0n4v616vgq_pinterest-logo-black.jpg) no-repeat;
    width: 128px;
    height: 128px;
    text-align: left;
    text-indent: -9999px;
    }

    This code was copied from a similar thread by the way.
    But nothing seems to happen. Can anyone help?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    What are you trying to get it to look like?

    When I view your about page it looks ok. Do you have two different widgets? One for the home page and one for other pages?

    Nothing’s happening because the selector #page #access #text-3 is absurd. Could you please link to the thread where you found this?

    (And since you inserted the images using normal image code in a Text widget, why do you want to turn them into background images?)

    Soon after posting this a friend helped me out, and unfortunately I don’t know how to delete threads once they are posted. Sorry to inconvenience anyone!

    Cait, how did you set up your social media icons? I’m trying to do something similar. Thanks.

    You use coding for linking images in a Text widget. See this post of mine:
