Cannot Add wordpress.com site to WordPress App

Android 2.2, WordPress App 2.4.5 site is zoebios121.wordpress.com and also a private site, 2 step authentication turned on. App generated password doesn’t work, tried with spaces, without, tried multiple times then waited a week, turned off 2 step and password doesn’t work either, reinstalled app and restarted phone doesn’t work either. Message no matter what is
‘Sorry, could not connect to the WordPress site. Please try again later.’
This is the message even if I intentionally enter in a wrong password, does this over a strong 4G connection and also a wifi connection. I think this is the generic ‘screw you’ message.
What is going on? Old app no longer supported? API? error with the new site migration? What’s most frustrating is sitting in my room logged into my computer and doing stuff on the wordpress site and my phone in my hand not being able to do so when clearly the 4G works and WordPress works but my app doesn’t. Blogging to my private wordpress site has become my journal and it’s hard being without it. Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim,
Have you tried it with the WordPress app installed on another phone? Android 2.2 was released 4 years ago, and it’s a bit hard for app developers to continue supporting such a version.

What was the last version of WordPress to support Android 2.2? I might find it on the interwebs and install it. WordPress 2.4.5 worked fine just a few months ago. I use my phone to write e-mails and blog posts (used to until I needed to reinstall the app and can’t add my wordpress sites): show me a phone that runs android with a physical keyboard and I’ll switch in a heartbeat.
