Cannot adjust settings, Settings options missing from Latest Posts block sidebar

  I am trying to create pages showing only the posts of the category Events, etc.

  When I look in the help, I can see that I can open the settings and there are a host of things I can change. When I look under Block in my sidebar however, there is no information that can be changed, only the link (“Block guide”) to tutorials. These display all the options I should be seeing, but which alas for me are completely absent.

  I am starting off here with the free WordPress.com version. Has it recently changed perhaps, that the free version suddenly won’t let you set up pages with only posts from a chosen category any more?

  Additional information: earlier on I have been able to create the page here: Events – Marjoline Delahaye TEST SITE.

  However, currently all the options to change settings are absent, and I can no longer create such pages of individual categories of posts.
