cannot be registered. Sorry, that site is reserved

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear support service,

I want to register my account with the username “albertocorralesgarcia” instead of “albertocorralesblog”.

I registered the username “albertocorralesgarcia” on wordpress a while ago, but I think I used a wrong email, and it is inactive. The problem is that it is blocking that namespace and I get a message “cannot be registered. Sorry, that site is reserved” https://en.wordpress.com/typo/?subdomain=albertocorralesgarcia

I would like to use the username/namespace “albertocorralesgarcia” in my current blog, instead of “albertocorralesblog”, since “albertocorralesgarcia” is my name+surname.

Please, could you change my account to use the username “albertocorralesgarcia” and remove te inactive account?

    Thank you in advance,

    Best regards.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

To help you with that I’m going to need some proof of ownership as outlined in our Account Recovery guide:

    Recover Your Account

    Hi fstat!!

I can’t figure out how I can recover that account when I used a wrong email address. In fact, I remenber the password that I used, but if I try to login I get this message:

    https://ibb.co/kuL8C7

  • In that case, I can only make that site private so that no one can view it.

Please let me know if that works for you.

If you make the site “http://albertocorralesgarcia.wordpress.com” private. Will I be allowed to use that address?

Actually, I would like to use that address.

  • Unfortunately no. To use that address you need to access the account that owns it.

You can, however, register a domain (e.g. albertocorralesgarcia.com) and use that instead of the whole .wordpress.com address.

Ok, I know I can pay for a .com domain, but I wouldn’t like to resort to this solution.

The point is that I don’t understand why the url “http://albertocorralesgarcia.wordpress.com” is reserved when I can’t not activate the account with the username “albertocorralesgarcia” because I registered a wrong email. Will it be reserved forever? Is there any expiration date for that URL reservation is the account is not activated?

  • Hi there –

I’m following up for fstat here.

When a user account is registered the corresponding/matching free .wordpress.com site address is also reserved for that account. This is an effort to prevent impersonation.

    Hi!!

well, I assume there is no solution for this issue, so I dicided to move my blog to blogger, where I can use my name in the url http://albertocorralesgarcia.blogspot.com. Therefore, you can close this thread, as I won’t need any of my wordpress accounts anymore.

It’s a pitty I couldn’t find a good solution with wordpress, but at least I came up with a satisfying solution in blogger.

    Anyway, thanks for your time.

  • No worries. I’ll close the thread.
