Cannot cancel expired domain name and use wordpress.com name

  Hello Happiness Engineers, I have just cancelled a registraion of richardmakim.com and update the primary domain name to richardmakim.wordpress.com
  However, each time I click on the wordpress.com domain, i keeps asking me to cancel the .com domain name – which I have done.
  Can you help?

  Our records show that richardmakim.com expired 34 days ago on the 12th March, 2015.

  Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. Your domain is currently in the redemption period as described here:

  Domain Expiration

  The good news is that we may still be able to recover your domain from redemption, if it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else. A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by the domain registry and is not one which we can waive.

  I’ve sent an email to the address we have on file for you with some extra information on this and how to make payment if you wish to. If you’d like to restore your domain then please respond from there. Thanks!

  Hi Siobhyb, I have just sent you a reply email however, TY so much for your help and I have resolved the issue, so, please ignore the previous email sent. Only other question is that we are awaiting a change of email address from: (email visible only to moderators and staff) to (email visible only to moderators and staff). I help Richard with his website and he has me listed as admin on his site and has asked that I receive his emails as he does not know how to work the site yet!

  Hi Eliza.

  I’m glad to see you’re now able to access richardmakim.wordpress.com without the expiration message. :)

  You can update the email address associated with the account via your Account Settings here:

  https://wordpress.com/me/account

  After changing the email there, you’ll be sent a confirmation email to the new address. The confirmation link in that email needs to be clicked in order for the change to go through.
