Cannot change contact email in domain information

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I cannot change the contact email in my domain information. I am trying to transfer my domain to a new registrar and obviously cannot answer the email since it goes to a email address that was provided by an ISP.
When I change the email in either Internet Explorer 11 or Google Chrome, it changes and tells me it will take a few minutes, but even if I come back 24 hours after the email has not changed…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    What is the domain URL?
Did you purchase it through WordPress.COM?

    Hello,

The domain name is charlesperreault.com and was purchased through wordpress.com.

Is it possible to get any help or is my domain name stuck with WordPress.com…? Who do I need to contact to get this fixed? Any support page from WordPress eventually redirects to the support forums.

    Hi Charles,

I cannot change the contact email in my domain information. I am trying to transfer my domain to a new registrar and obviously cannot answer the email since it goes to a email address that was provided by an ISP.

Please note that once you change the contact info on the domain, your domain will be locked for 60 days and cannot be transferred. This is a rule set upon every registrar by ICANN and is not something that I can control.

I see that an email has been changed. Can you tell me exactly which email you want to use? Again, note that the change will cause your domain to be locked for 60 days and cannot be transferred. So I highly recommend that you enable auto-renew on your domain as it expires on Feb. 27th, 2015 and the domain will still be locked.

Hello Gracie and thanks for taking the time to help.

ICANN locks the domain transfer for 60 days when you change the first name, last name or organization and not the email address.

I have absolutely no access to the current email set up under this domain, it was based off an ISP account that has since been closed, otherwise I would simply use it to receive my EPP code to transfer the domain.

The email I want to set in the account is charles[DOT]perreault[AT]remax-quebec[DOT]com. Please moderate this address once the change has been applied. I do not want to renew my domain name via WordPress.com.

The email I want to set in the account is charles[DOT]perreault[AT]remax-quebec[DOT]com.

    That’s what I see now.

    Hello Grace,

The Domain Management panel accessible from Upgrades > My Domains > Edit > Domain contact information does not reflect this change.
It still shows the old email address.
Requesting a transfer code through the Transfer Domain menu either does not actually send an email OR sends to the old email address.

Is it possible for you to verify if this email was sent? I tried less than 2 minutes ago.

I’ve accepted the transfer and I’m seeing the new email.

    Happy Blogging!

    Hello Grace,

Once again, I don’t see the new email address in the control panel. I have checked my emails for an EPP code and I have not received anything from WordPress or WildWestDomains or actually anything concerning my domain name. I’ve checked in the junk and there’s nothing there either.

Here is a screenshot of the domain contact panel as of today!

This is becoming very tiresome for a simple domain transfer…

I’m not quite sure what’s going on. I’ve resent the email to confirm your email and have tried to update it multiple times. I believe it’s being sent to your previous emails and that the change in email is causing some issues. So, I have brought this back to my team for further review. Once I heard back I’ll let you know what they say as soon as possible.

    Thank you Grace,

Sorry for sounding a bit harsh, but the expiration date is closing in and I really want to get this working. Believe me if I had any way to access the old email address to fix this I would.

So we were able to change the contact info. I have sent the ICANN verification email. Please check your email for that. Once it’s verified we can transfer the domain.

    Hello Grace,

We have received the icann verification and I just requested a transfer code, so I believe everything will be working from now on.

    Thank you for your help.

I have accepted the transfer. You should receive an email confirming this from your new registrar shortly.
