Cannot change the theme within Child Theme
-
For the past three hours I have been trying to add the Typekit font – “nudista-web”
However it will not appear, I have added the plug in and activated it.
I have copied the ‘Embed Code’ into the setting section of the plug in.I have then tried to go into my child style.css file and update the font-family, but nothing changes.
There is something weird going on as when you first go onto the site it jumps from one font to another.
I am new to this :D
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

@ellearkiv will you confirm which site you’re working on? Is this for https://ellearkiv.com/ ?
-
@supernovia Yes it is ellearkiv.com
I dont know what I am doing wrong I followed the instructions;
https://helpx.adobe.com/typekit/using/using-typekit-blog.htmlbut still no luck
I am using Twenty Sixteen theme and I created a child theme, as I want to modify and customise it to be more of my own style.
Is there an issue with using existing themes and trying to add your own fonts?
I haven’t modified the sixteen parent theme at all.
-
@ellearkiv Child themes and external fonts would not be supported on this site actually, since a child theme would count as a third party theme upload. You would need a business plan to use a child theme:
https://wordpress.com/plansAre any of the built in fonts close enough?
-
I have a premium plan and it says typekit is a premium font so I dont understand?
How can I use what fonts I choose rather than whats listed in the traditional ‘customise theme’ view?
-
@ellearkiv
Unfortunately, you cannot add a Typekit font that isn’t already available in the Premium upgrade Custom Fonts tab in the Theme Customizer. CSS that loads outside files is not permitted.
So sorry, I know how it is when there is a perfect font you want to use, but look through the dropdown fonts chooser and there are one or two that look similar to Nudista, like Arima, Karla and Lato. -
Okay, I am trying to go real simple.
Does it not work trying to use twenty sixteen as a parent theme?
I just cannot seem to get it to change to any coding in input
I just downloaded cornerstone-master theme and made a child theme of that. I activated it but it is still appearing as twenty sixteen?!!
What is going on …
I then went to use this https://www.designbombs.com/master-twenty-sixteen-wordpress-theme/
I am not using jetpack but using custom css plug in
and I can still not get it to change !!! i’ve followed exact instructions for making the widget title grey but nope. NOTHING
Why is this so hard :(

Okay, so the modification to the widget title background colour has worked on my local host when i ‘visit site’
however if you go to ellearkiv.com it hasn’t changed anything? -
@ellearkiv the changes you make on local host will not be reflected here.
About the fonts, at this time, you can choose from several installed typekit fonts, but I will make a request for you to have more supported.
