cannot comment in Reader mode

  Hello,

  Beginning today I cannot access or write comment in reader mode. I have been using the reader mode extensively to comment on sites that I follow. Today, when I click on that site (while still logged in) in reader mode, and click on the ‘comment’ icon, nothing happened, existing comments did not load, there is no box to ‘reply’.

  The only possible way is then to go directly to the site and make comment on their main page.

  I’ve checked 3 different types of browsers: Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. As of last night commenting was working just fine. I have cleared out all history + cache, but this did not help.

  The only exception is my own site: if I ‘follow’ my site and read it in reader mode, i can access the comments ok. But on all other sites I can’t.

  Does anyone experience similar problem and could suggest ways to debug / solve this?

  Hello,

  I am experiencing the same issue (Firefox on iMac): I prefer to use reader mode to read and post comments directly from there, and can now only click ‘share’ and ‘like’ underneath a displayed post while the ‘comments’ button does not react any longer.
  Is there any chance this might be a bug that could be resolved?

  If this is part of a new rollout, I would have to say that it is quite an inconvience to my personal user behavior on WP, and I would kindly ask considering to revise this change.

  Hello, there are a number of people reporting this issue, so it’s not just you and Staff have been alerted.

  Are you trying to leave a comment from within the Reader or directly on someone’s site?

  Do you receive an error message? If so, what is it?

  I am trying to comment directly within the Reader on a post by a blog I follow, and I do not receive any error message, the button simply nonresponsive.

  Hello, thank you for getting back. I have the same problem reported by aniklachev:
  I’m trying to reply in Reader Mode, but when I click the comment “icon” at the end of a post (in the past it would load existing comments, show a box for typing comment, and has a “reply” button to send comment), i do not get any response. There is no error. Simply no box to make comment, no “reply” button, no previous comments loaded.

  Howdy all,

  Thanks for reporting this issue. It appears a small change in the Reader on Friday caused comments to only show for logged-in admins of a site, but it was fixed a little while ago and you should be able to see and leave comments via the Reader again.

  You might need to clear your browser cache before it will work for you.
