Cannot complete domain mapping
-
I have recently created a wordpress blog and I have been trying to map my domain from my google blogger to wordpress. My domain name was set to expire on 27th Jan so I waited till it expired to proceed, maybe that was a mistake, but I’m not techy enough to know that. I repurchased my domain via wordpress and started mapping, but in the ‘my upgrades’ section, next to my domain julieandtheknits.com, it says ‘DNS need to be updated’. I followed the instructions and went into my DNS manager to delete the current nameservers and add the new ones, but I cannot delete the existing ones, stilkl I saved the new ones but the upgrade section still says that the DNS setting need to be updated. I have contacted GoDaddy, they told me to contact (email visible only to moderators and staff) which I did, but they have replied with a million steps, but I cannot even complete the first step which is to log in into DomainsByProxy.com, because I do not have log in details and have never used this website. Needless to say I am mega frustrated and really confused, right now I cannot even view my wordpress blog. Thanks in advance for your help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
After looking into your domain I found that it expired on January 27th, 2014 as seen here:
http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=julieandtheknits.com
Since your registrar is GoDaddy you must go through them to renew the domain. Please try to do as they ask because there is nothing I can do unless the domain is renewed. The domain mapping will not work unless the domain is renewed.
Once it is renewed please just update the nameservers to ours
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMFor more information, please visit the help documentation provided by the registrar and our support page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
Please note that domain registration and mapping is completely separate. Registration entails renewing the domain, and mapping entails pointing the domain to your WordPress.com site. Since we are not your registrars, there’s nothing I can do about renewing the domain – that would have to go through GoDaddy. You can find more information about the difference between registering and mapping (hosting) here:

Thanks for your reply, I understand now. I did renew my domain and now in my upgrades it now says my DNS is correct. However when I view my blog it shows my blogger blog and not my wordpress blog. Is there something else I need to do? Is it just because the mapping will take some time?

Hi there,
I looked into this, and it seems that your name server settings (to WordPress.com) have not been saved. See the name server section here:
http://who.is/whois/julieandtheknits.com
Could you contact GoDaddy support (or try again, using the instructions here) and let me know if you are able to update them successfully?
Here are the settings you will want to use. Note that with GoDaddy you will need to click the “Add Nameservers” link to add the third record:

ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.com
I double checked all the settings here on our end, and you are all ready to go. Once the name server settings above have been propagated, your site here will automatically be linked to the domain, replacing your Blogger site.
Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you so much, turns out I was editing the nameservers in the DNS settings instead of the Domains section on the GoDaddy site, I can now see my blog!
