Cannot create a new blog

trying to create a new blog but I am not receiving an email to activate it. I have a blog myself but I am trying to assist someone else to create one. When we fill in the form to create a new blog using their information all ticks appear showing the information is OK. Then we submit but nothing happens and we do not receive an email to activate it. I have been trying this for a few days now

might be WordPress issue as well, but please check your friend’s email client spam/junk mail filter and if there’s still nothing, post back to this thread.

thanks for responding. I am thinking it must be a wordpress issue as I have now tried it using 3 different email address (they have a hotmail one etc as well that I tried) but still nothing. Any ideas on what I can do now?

What is the domain name you are trying to register? This often happens if the blog URL is taken.

i have actually tried it a few times now thinking this may be the case and I have used slightly different domain names but still no luck.
Tried cactusdesignsaus. cactusdesigns. cactusdesignswoodfires.
and others -
Do you mean http://cactusdesignsaus.wordpress.com for instance? It exists. It has been activated. There are posts on it.

No. I can’t get past the activation stage. I submit it but don’t receive an email to activate it

I now know what has happened. I created cactusdesignsaus.wordpress.com under my wordpress account until I could get it set up under my friends (needed their email address and them to activate it). Now we wanted to create it under an account for them and move it to theirs. I found in wordpress support that there is a way to do this so I was happy but didn’t think about this domain name issue when setting them up. Is there a way to resolve this? So….in summary I am wanting to move cactusdesignsaus.wordpress.com from where it is under my account to a new account (different email address and user name). Hoping someone can help me out with this. Regards Trtacey

You can’t create a blog that already exists. You need to Invite them as admins. It’s simple. You go to the dashboard of that blog, and on the Users page, you Invite them either by email or by their WordPress.com username.

If i add them as admin they also access my main blog and may add things on there in error as they haven’t used wordpress before

now it gets worse. I tried using a slightly different domain and was going to set it up under them, not realising it would default to my account (seemed to automatically log me in). Now that domain name is under my account as well. How can I delete it so I can start again and use their email????

Please don’t delete any of the sites you already created — deleting a site is permanent and the address won’t be available for anyone else to use after that. Instead, I can help you transfer the sites to the correct account.
Has your friend successfully set up a WordPress.com account of their own yet? If not, they can use this link to create a new account without creating any new sites yet (so you can just transfer the ones you already create to their account):

(If you’re logged in to your account, please log out first and then visit that link to set up your friend’s account.)
Once your friend has an account of their own, you can follow the steps to transfer the site(s) you created to their account. If you’d like, I can help you with that process — just let me know the username your friend set up for their account and what site(s) you want to transfer. :)
