Cannot Cut and Paste Links between Posts and/or Pages

Starting this afternoon, I cannot cut and paste links from one post or page of my blog to another. I have never had turned on, and have made sure that Text Paste is turned off. Any live link now looses its URL and pastes as plain text with no link. It worked yesterday, and this morning at 10am. It does not work now at 5pm. I have tried logging out of the blog and logging back in without effect. In am Mac OS 10.9.2 and Safari 7.0.2. Help please.

Extending the malfunction above, I now cannot copy and paste images with Custom URL links from Pages or Posts to new Posts. When I attempt to do so, only the title of the image is pasted, not the image itself nor the outbound custom URL back link. Again, help please.

I cannot cut and paste links from one post or page of my blog to another.
With “Paste as Plain Text” turned off, I’m able to successfully copy and paste text from published posts that includes a link and pasting that text within a new post. The link is carried over when copying and pasting. Is this not working on your side?
I now cannot copy and paste images with Custom URL links from Pages or Posts to new Posts
To be clear, are you trying to copy an image with a custom URL from a published page to a new post? If so, you will need to re-add the image to the new post. Alternatively, you can use the “Copy a Post” function explained here:

You correctly understand the problems I am having.
(1) Copy and Paste Links … I confirm that this is not working on my site. The URL of the link is lost. Paste as Text is definitely turned off though I have tried both ways to make use the toggle setting was not somehow reversed. I copy and paste lists of Links and need to do so without having to rebuild each Link. My blog gets significant traffic, and has a high Klout and Authority scores for something homegrown. So apparently my readers like what I offer for Store Fixture Research. Please fix Link Copy and Paste.
(2) I can live with re-adding the image. Still was better the old way where the link remained attached and I copied in the image and link.
(3) I am no longer able to specify <OPEN IN NEW WINDOW> to Custom URLs attached to images. Since my readers are researching retail fixture solutions, Open in New Window allows them to preview a solution, yet more easily backtrack to the main thread of thought to continue if not the right answer. Please restore <OPEN IN NEW WINDOW> as an option.
So to summarize, my worst nightmare on not being able to copy and paste lists of Links is still not functional on my site. Please Help. I am Mac OS 10.9.2, Safari 7.0.2 if that makes a difference. The Mac CAN copy and paste live links across other applications. Only WordPress looses the link.

Problems grow worse.
Now Cut and Paste of copy loses style settings … Bold, Italic, Paragraph vs Heading Level and More.
Editor is now very very bare bones, and strips out enhancements from links to images, to open in new window, to text styles.
Bummer man.

I went back and tested this multiple times using various sites as a test, and the copy/paste links function appears to be working correctly. Please note, it only works when you copy inside the Visual Editor with “Paste as Text” turned off. I’ve provided a screencast copying a list of links and pasting them inside the Visual editor as a demo:
Can you try copying and pasting the links in the Visual editor? Another note, this does not work when you use “Paste and Match Style”, just the default Paste.

I did some further testing on this, and I was able to copy a part of your latest post and paste it in a new post (in the “Visual” editor) as demonstrated here:
Can you let me know if that screencast matches what you’re looking to do?
Note: While the screencast demos were completed in Chrome. I confirmed that both features also work in Safari 7.0.2.

This option was removed. However, it may be something that we look to add back in in the future. You can accomplish this through editing the HTML within the Text editor. You would just need to insert a target=”_blank” attribute as shown here:

Many users have vocalized the desire to have the “open in new tab” option included back in for future iterations. If you have other feedback regarding the image editing, that forum post is a great place to do that. It’s helpful to keep all of the feedback in place for future iterations!

Are you referring to copying text from another website or when copying text from another Word processor? The former appears to be working (again, in the Visual editor) as shown here:
The latter (from another Word processor) is working for me as well (from Pages).
Let me know a bit more about the last issue, and I’ll do some further investigation!

Today I was able to accomplish copy and paste of links successfully. But for almost a week it was not functioning. Maybe something that was allergic to your new editor changes Updated on my end and things seem to be working now. I will test again tonight, and since I work on my blog almost daily, I will certainly let you know if things malfunction again.
Copy and paste of type style and paragraph settings is functional again too.
Open in new window desired … please consider returning that function.
Copy and paste of image with custom URL desired rather than setting up new link … Please consider returning that function.
Please leave this forum live for a week or so, to insure that the bugs have all gone away.

Great to hear! As I mentioned, we’re constantly making improvements to the editor based on suggestions and feedback. The “Open in new window” option is definitely something we’re considering for future updates.
