Cannot delete a plugin

  I have the WPBakery Visual Composer for my WP theme. I cannot update the theme and I assume that it is because I do not have the latest version since I have 4.4.3 and I am being told I need to upgrade to 4.4.4. So I tried to update and it failed. I bought the user license and tried to upload that and I get this message.

  Unpacking the package…

  Installing the plugin…

  Destination folder already exists. /home/lspcons2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/

  Plugin install failed.

  I tried to deactivate the plugin and it kept saying it was deactivated but then it would show up still active. I tried to deactivate the plugin from phpMyAdmin and it still will not let me deactivate or delete it so that I can install the new version.

  Can anyone please help me find a way to install the update so I can use the editor.

  I’m afraid you’re in the wrong forum. This support forum is only for free WordPress.com blogs. You’re talking about a self-hosted WordPress.ORG install. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
