Cannot delete Category

  I have a category that appears in the check box list of categories when creating a new post that I want to delete. However, it does not exist in the manage categories section of the control panel. The only category that appears there is “Uncategorized.” I would like to delete this category, but am unable to.

  Hey there,

  The Uncategorized category is there by default, and cannot be deleted. It is the catchall for any posts that don’t get assigned to categories. You do not have to use it, however, and it will not appear on your site if you haven’t assigned any posts to it.

  Sorry, I can see that I was unclear.

  When I create a post, there are two categories. One is “Uncategorized” and one is “Union with Christ”

  When I go to manage my categories, all that appears is “Uncategorized”

  “Union with Christ” is not present, and so I can’t delete it.

  If you want to delete the Category, “Union with Christ,” you can go straight to the Category management page:

  https://orthopathos.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category
