Cannot delete default tag

For some reason “addiction” is my default category; I cannot delete it and it’s categorizing ALL of my posts to “addiction”, even if I uncheck it from the list before I publish my post. How do I fix this?

It’s a private blog. Don’t know if that matters or not…I think I have it linked correctly. Fingers crossed…

here at wordpress.COM so I can give you a accurate answerOkay you’ll need to go to Dashboard->Manage->Categories to delete the category

The default category cannot be deleted; so first you go to Settings>Writing and select another category as your default one, click save changes, THEN you go to Manage->Categories and delete the ex-default one.
