Cannot disable comments
-
Hi all,
I looked up the support information about how to disable comments, but haven’t had any success. I went to settings<discussion to disable comments, but every time I quick “save changes” and receive the confirmation that they’ve been registered, the comment option is still there, visible, on the blog. I don’t want comments for any part of the blog (the about page) or the posts on the home page. From the dashboard I tried going to the discussion options bar from both the first individual post as well as for the about page, and neither will disable comments. Ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The comment link will disappear on most themes as I understand it if you go to settings > discussion and disable trackbacks and pingbacks (which are considered comments). I think it is the second item from the top. Give that a try, clear your browser cache and then have another look.

Also, changes in the Discussion settings only apply to posts and pages created after the change: already published ones must be edited individually. See here for more:

Thanks to both of you. I did disable trackbacks and pingbacks and that didn’t produce any changes, unfortunately. I tried to edit the post individually to disable comments and also saw no change. I’m stumped. Maybe I’ll delete the post and paste it in as a new one and see what happens.

DId you uncheck the options “Allow comments” & “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page” in the Discussion module of the post editor and click Update after that?

Okay, problem solved. I deleted the post and began again. Thanks for everyone’s suggestions.
