Cannot Edit

Can someone help me with this? For some reason, I cannot connect with WP.
When I press the ‘Get Help’ button on the area where ‘We care about your happiness!’ I get a nearly blank screen with only a ghostly WP logo.
Same with trying to edit one of my pieces. Cannot connect.

Sorry, I can’t follow much of what you’ve written. Doesn’t make any sense to me … [it’s just that I’m not computer savvy.]
Let’s try this: Do you know how to connect using the CHAT line? Did this last week and it worked well, but can’t find a chat line at this hour. I found chat to be simple. Type in question. Get answer.
Can anyone provide me easy to follow instructions on how to connect on chat? Thanks much.

More information that might help …
I’ve been using WP for 4 years, today is the first time I’ve not been able to edit a story. When I click edit, the page is blank. When I click ‘Get Help’ [We care about your happiness!] … the page is blank. When I click ‘Get Help’ [Not quite what you’re looking for?], the page is blank.
I don’t think this has anything to do with browers.
Where’s the chat button? It’s too bad there’s no phone number, that would certainly be a great way to communicate.

The problem you’re describing is usually a browser issue. Additionally, all the pages you mention are working for me, and we haven’t had any other reports of this happening, which would be the case if it was an error on our end. So let’s first try to rule that out.
Can you please try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies? You can find instructions for doing that here:
Browser IssuesAlso unplug your router/modem for a minute or so to reset it, in case it might be a connection issue, which is the other usual culprit with this error.
What browser are you using? And what is the browser version? If you’re not sure, you can see that info if you visit the supportdetails page @timethief linked to above.
Can you also please check if you can load those pages if you use a different browser. If you don’t have other browsers on your computer you can download one from the browsehappy site @timethief also linked to.
The next troubleshooting steps after this only gets more complicated, which is why I want to rule out the most likely causes first.
Regarding chat, that is not available over the weekend, so you wouldn’t have been able to start a chat had you tried on Saturday or Sunday.

I finally got through on chat this morning, so was able to sort some things out.
Apparently it’s a browser issue. For someone who is not knowledgeable with even basic computer terminology, that can be a problem. Browser — something to connect with the internet, I guess. This may seem funny to you, but to me it’s a strange term.
I have a new iMac and Apple uses Safari.
Hadn’t thought of rebooting the router/modem. Will try that next time.
It would have been good to have a notice saying there is no chat on the weekend, because I kept hitting the help button expecting chat … but nothing was happening. Of course, if the browser isn’t working there’s no way of connecting to WP since no phone number is available.
I did not know about an email address. That email address should be prominently displayed. What’s better would be a numbered list. 1] try this … 2] if that doesn’t work, try this … 3] if that doesn’t work, here’s our email address …

We do not the email address on the support pages on purpose, because it’s an open invitation to spammers to flood us with spam emails, but I understand where you’re coming from. We prefer that you use the contact form to reach us, but it is a problem if the contact form is what’s not working.
And I don’t find it funny at all that you find browser problems a challenge. All of us had to learn this as well, and part of our job is to also help you learn and to give you the tools to troubleshoot and fix problems.
Next time you have trouble with any website on your computer, remember about browser cache and cookies, and resetting the connection. You’ll be amazed at how many website issues can be solved that way. Sometimes just pressing Cmd-R (on a Mac) or Ctrl-F5 (on Windows) is enough.
