Cannot Edit Comments with New WordPress?
-
I run a blog that constantly needs to edit out peoples’ names from comments. Did WordPress removed the Edit feature for comments? Please say it ain’t so.
-
I found at my blog if I go to Dashboard, click on Comments, then click on the commenters name (in blue) an edit box comes up to change things.
Changes! This will take some time to get use to, I think.

Btw, WordPress gurus — that’s not a very intuitive or usable feature. I am not impressed. It should be far clearer to the user (in this case, ME) what to do — i’m just lucky that there are spaceagesage-type people out there.
So there, ner.

I think this may also be theme-related. The Edit Comment button is there for my blog, using Custom CSS on Sandbox. It’s likely that this has only affected certain themes. So if you add to this thread, post the theme you’re using as well.

Nice Sapceagesage and everybody. excellent point.
But, i need to edit, mi OWN commentaries.
How can i get that? -

I’m with Zorontor. I need to delete a post/comment that I made myself but I can’t find a way to do that.
-
Go to Dashboard–>Comments and on the far right-hand side you’ve got “Approve, Spam, Delete” for all comments including yours.

I know if I searched here I would find an answer to this one. Thanks spaceage for the answer.
I agree with junohenry though – it is hardly intuitive. I would have NEVER guessed in a million years to click on the name to edit. I was looking for an EDIT selection over on the far right where it has the following actions to select from “Approve, Spam, Delete” I figured “Edit” would seem to logically go here as the first choice. Oh well. Different strokes. -

When I post a comment on my own page, my name does not highlight in blue, therefore I cannot click it. It seems to be impossible for me to edit my own comments that I make on my own page. This is very frustrating since all I want to do it to make the heading font in bold. Can anyone help?
-
To link your blog URL to your name on comments (on wordpress.com blogs while you are logged in) go to users > your profile and in the “website” field, put the full URL of your blog.
If you go into “comments” in the dashboard and click on the name on the comment you want to edit, it should come up in an edit window for you to edit. I’ve noticed that the edit link in the comments in the blog post pages has been a little erratic. Sometimes I can use it and sometimes I cannot.

I put the URL in the website section, and it does still not highlight in blue to allow me to click on it. My full URL would be http://wordpress.rebeccabencsik.com/ correct? It does it for the other user on my blog page, but not for me.
-
No, that is an incorrect URL. It should be http://rebeccabencsik.wordpress.com/ and the reason your comments aren’t editable is probably because you’ve got the wrong link in there. Fix it and it should be fixed retroactively I think.

I’m using Digg3 with a CSS upgrade (though all I’ve changed is the background and tabs) and I too, am able to just click the name of the commenter and the edit feature comes up. I’ve edited several comments this evening, with no trouble at all.
