Cannot edit default Front page…
-
initially, I had my front page working as my welcome page.., then I did something that deleted the content? and now get the “can’t find that page message” Now. I made a new page for my welcome, but can’t get rid of the Home button in the menu, nor can I edit the Home to be my Welcome page. I don’t see Home listed as an editable page. I’ve tried to adjust what shows in the menu bar with a custom menu. No good. I’ve tried the Static page fix, but Home does not show up as an option when I try to choose it for a static Front page. If I can edit the original home page to be my Welcome page I will be happy. I figured that I cannot actually delete the Home page because that contains my url address, right?
Hope this makes sense. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you deleted the Hello World placeholder post that resulted in a 404 (page not found) error message displaying. Not to worry, as when you publish a post, not a page it will disappear.
By default the front page (“Home”) of your WordPress.com blog will display your latest posts. You can change this so readers see a static page instead, and can view your posts on a different page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
If you create a custom menu and add pages that you created to it you will resolve your other issue.

hmm? I re-created the welcome page and made it static. Now, when I first open the website, the original content is present on the welcome page. if from there, I go to the directions page and then return to the welcome page, I get the 404 not found page. What to do?
