Cannot Edit MX Records

  I first tried editing them through wordpress.com/domains/, but I kept getting a notification that says ‘Sorry, only the owner of this domain is allowed to edit the domain information.’ This can’t be correct, as I am the owner of the domain. Then I tried editing my MX Records through wordpress.com/my-domains/, as that seemed to work for some people, but then when I tried to save changes, it said ‘An error occured while trying to process your request. Please try again or Contact Support if you continue to have trouble.’

  This has gotten incredibly frustrating for me. Looking through the forums to find the ‘my-domains’ solution already took a good deal of time. To discover even this failed to help me has been crushing.

  Hello –

  The domain is actually held under a different account than the one that you had written in from. That’s why you couldn’t see it in your account.

  I do see some MX records entered in – did you get this sorted out?

  The records themselves have been sorted out, yes, but I had to get help with it because I couldn’t edit them myself and didn’t know why. The one who helped me was also the one who set up my website on WordPress for me, @daryndez. If the domain isn’t held under this account, then what account is it? Did I create an account I didn’t really need? And if so, why doesn’t any other account show up under my list of “people”, “team”, or whatever you call it? It just shows this account and Daryn’s account.

  Hi @vistaroofscharlie, because @daryndez currently owns the upgrade, only they make such major changes to its settings. If you log in as them you can make those changes. Alternatively, you can ask them to transfer the upgrade ownership to you. Just have them get in touch with us here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact
