Cannot edit my sites

  • Unknown's avatar

For a three days I cannot get to edit my sites; they are still all up and visible, but as soon as I hit edit, it just goes to the wordpress W screen. Same happens when I try the help service. Can anyone advise? It’s fairly critical!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy inrock777!
Just to confirm again you are not able to Edit your site easyontheeye2.wordpress.com
Can you try and clear your Cache and Cookies using the instructions in the support document Browser Issues

Let me know how it goes, would be happy to assist you further..!

Thanks for this. I cleared cache, checked java, updated Flash, but no luck. I tried access on another machine (using exact same version of Firefox) and got on straight away, so it is clearly something on my MacBook (10.8.2). I have found Safari really poor at working with WordPress and tried today but it still crawls along then gives up. I have not added any new software or anything recently. Any ideas welcome! Simon

    Hi Simon!
Thanks again for the inputs, I am using a Macbook and using Safari, Firefox and Chrome as well it seems to be working fine.
Just make sure you have latest versions of Browsers you can check from here browsehappy.com
Also, please provide the details, of the OS, Safari version where you face an issue.
And also to confirm, you are able to access the Dashboard but not able to Edit it ? Just provide us the details so we diagnose further.
    Looking forward. Thanks..!

I cannot update Firefox any more according to their website.
I log in, and straight away get the W blank screen. If I look at my sites as a visitor, then I get the offer to edit, but when I try it again goes to the W screen. Mac OS is 10.8.2.
I gave up trying to use Safari some years back, it just goes wrong as soon as I start editing any pages and won’t upload pics. I will try an reinstall Firefox in case that helps. As I said the same combination works fine on my partners identical laptop, but she won’t be parted from that long enough!
I guess I can try Chrome.

    Hi Simon!
Thank you for the updates, so lets make it simple, just inform me which version of the browsers the Dashboard of WordPress does not open, and also, send me a Screenshot using Make a Screenshot
Let me have a closer look, if its a bug we can pass it to the staff. Hope we hear back soon.

Hi Pavan, Specs as requested : Firefox 48.0.2, Safari 6.0.2
    MacBook Pro 10.8.2 , 2.53 Intel processor
Safari used to just struggle, but now it accepts the login and goes to the next page, but then will not show me my sites or anything much else. Is it possible somehow my access is stuck as when I do see the site on the other machine it always set at logged in even though technically I’m not.
I have no idea how to add the screenshots to this posting! So I have tried sending them to your own blog email address for now.

    Hi Simon!
Thank you for the details further, looking at your screenshot, the tab is on Reader gettting stuck there, you need to click on Mysite,
Anyways, lets try to do it step by step, go to browsehappy.com
the Browser seems to be an old version, I am personally using 10.1.1
You should try and update the browser.
Also, looking at the screenshot, there seems a loading problem.
Just clear the cookies too as well one’s and try to log in on the updated versions. The Safari I am using is 10.1.1 so an update is definitely needed.
Let me know how this goes.
    Thanks..!

Hi Pavan, I tried doing some upgrading and to then reinstall Firefox but it would not allow me to do that (still not modern enough), so in the end I downloaded Chrome and this has enabled me to get back onto my editing pages today.
I will get my IT guy in to update the OS and let that bed in, then will try Firefox and safari again!
But how come Safari lets me log in to get on this forum, but still won’t let me edit my sites? Weird.

    Hi Simon!
Hope you doing well. Am sorry for the delayed reply, I have been a bit unwell, Safari should definitely work well, anyway, surely get the latest browsers for all and let me know if you still face issues. If still there are problems, I can pass the details to staff. Hope to hear from you further.
    Thanks..!

Chrome is handling it OK, so I will stick with that for now until I upgrade my OS, then try newer Safari. Chrome does not get great reviews for Mac and as with the other browsers it is no longer supported by my OS, but as it has got me working again I will not complain!
Spoke to my brother yesterday, his Mac laptop is still on OS9 and still does everything he wants…

    Hi Simon!
Wonder why such a case, we got some cases where there were issues because of the ISP, can you try using the same computer and browser with some other ISP, maybe your Phone Internet or another Wifi connection and see if it works fine or its an issue. Let me know how it goes. Hope you doing good..! :)
