I am trying to edit two of the pages on the site but when I press edit the page that I can normally edit is blank. The pages are Miscellanea and Plays. Both contain photographs.

Hi there,
To clarify it is only these two pages that you are having issues with editing? I noticed that both pages have a lot of content. Many images and PDFs… when you have this many to a single page it can take some time to load, epecially if you have a slow internet connection.
With this in mind, I would like you to run the following network test to check your connection speed: http://www.speedtest.net/
Can you tell me the results you get for:
– Latency (ping)
– Download speed
– Upload speedAlso, if you open those pages to edit, and leave them open in a new tab, does the editor load eventually if you give it enough time?
Thanks for the additional info!

Thanks. I have now discovered the problem and a workround but not the solution to why the pages for editing leave only a blank screen in Safari. The edit pages appear fine on my iPad and on Chrome on the same Mac. It appears to be a Safari problem in that I have cleared all the caches and history, restarted the Mac and the problem is still there. Chrome on the other hand loads the pages to be edited very quickly. Has anybody else had this problem with Safari 15.0 (macOS 11.6)?

Hello there,
There has been reports of this happening on Safari 14, and it’s mainly because of the way that Safari treats cookies after that particular update.
It’s possible the same is now occurring with 15. Usually cleaning the cache clears this issue.

Hello there,
Hmmm ok, can you tell us the operating system – for instance is macOS 11.6, BigSur ?
Also, just to check both the cookies and cache are cleared?

Thanks! I’d like to try a few more things because I can’t seem to replicate this in Safari 15.0/Big Sur.
First, could you open up Safari and go to Preferences -> Privacy and see if “Prevent cross-site tracking” is checked? If so, try unchecking it and see if that has any impact. Also make sure “Block all cookies” is unchecked there.
If not, go to Preferences -> Security and make sure JavaScript is enabled. Then try again if it was not enabled.
Thanks for your help in trying to narrow down the source of this problem!

“Prevent cross-site tracking” checked or unchecked has no effect.
Cookies not blocked
Java enabled
Remember that the problem is not on all pages on the site – just two of them. Both have a lot of photographs but then so does another which does not show the same problem. -
Could this be an issue with a Safari extension?
-
@rondinax – Thanks for checking that. Since those settings had no impact, my hunch is that it’s a combination on how Safari handles privacy and security and the sheer size (and time to load) of those two pages you’re trying to edit.
We’d recommend breaking those pages into two or more separate pages (via Chrome) to allow them to load properly in Safari. Alternatively, use Chrome going forward since you don’t have the problem in that browser.
