Cannot embed YouTube videos

I used to have no problem with this, and switched from entering my posts in “visual” mode (which I preferred) to “text” (as suggested by a “get help now” thing that is no longer in the bottom right of my screen as a chat feature thing.
Anyone having issues with this? Any way to fix it? If I can’t find music in my chosen platform, Soundcloud, this is how I share tracks, and not being able to is immensely frustrating.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you having problems with Youtube or Soundcloud?
For Youtube, you paste the URL of the video on its own line directly in the visual editor. When you save/publish the post that should convert the URL into the shortcode, which will display as a video on the actual post.

I have done both successfully in the past. With Soundcloud my issue is content-based; their codes embed beautifully in my entries. YouTube used to do the same, but now, even though I’ve been doing nothing different in terms of copying and pasting the share links from the YouTube website, the videos are no longer showing up in my final or previewed posts AT ALL. I use the DuoTone theme, which does support this video embedding, and I’ve been having this issue for about a month now. It’s really maddening. I’ve tried to work around it, but sometimes I just want to post a friggin’ video, and I can’t!

Something that might cause this is if the Youtube link you paste is active (clickable). An active link won’t convert into the shortcode when updated.
You can also try embedding directly with the shortcode (instructions in the support doc I linked above), or you can paste the Youtube embed code into the text editor (it’s an iframe code, so it’s stripped out the moment you update and replaced by the shortcode).
It might help if you can give a link to a published post where your inserted video is not working so we can take a look.

I’d love to be able to link such a post, but once I realize that there isn’t even a hint of code that I’ve pasted into my post, I discard the code and make a hyperlink within the text.
As I’d mentioned, this happens even when I paste the embed code into the text editor, as well.
It’s bizarre.I will take a look at your doc — thank you very much for your help.

That’s what I’m speaking of: if you paste an active hyperlink it won’t convert into the shortcode as it’s supposed to. In the visual editor you won’t see the video, but only the shortcode. When you preview/publish the post you will see the video.
