Cannot figure out how to add a Text Widget
-
Okay, so I say I want 1 text widget, I drag it into the box, and now how do I add text? Or do I have this all wrong? THANKS! (((((HUGS))))) sandi
-
Hi, Sandi..it’s really simple. After you’ve dragged it into the box, click on the icon on the upper right corner of the widget. It will open to an editing screen where you can enter your text. HTH! (cute kid!)

Here are some clear instructions for opening the text widget and typing into it.

Click the box! DOH! LOL! Now how do I get it to take~do I click the X? save? I know I am such a newbie! *THANK Y’ALL!* for being so QUICK! (((((HUGS))))) sandi

Text Widgets – can contain text, html code and small images of the your choice. You use the text widget box to choose how many you want and click save changes. The number of text widgets you have chosen will then appear in the available widgets box.
You simply drag and drop the text widgets one at a time into your sidebar box in a position of your own choosing, fill them with the contents you have chosen, click the X on the upper right corner and close the widget, then click save changes and the widget be activated.

timethief, THANK YOU! for the kindegarten directions~they are EXACTLY what I need! LOL! I don’t see Save change~I see how many would you like, a number, and save. I’ve done that, but there’s not banner on my blog from it. (((((HUGS))))) and I think y’all are AWESOME! ~sandi

The “Save change” button is on the page on the right hand side. Look below the Available Widgets box.

OH you AWESOME, WONDERFUL person, you! It was a button hidden behind one of the widgets, so I couldn’t see it! LOL! and you’ve helped me like, FOUR TIMES in TWO MINUTES! *THANK YOU!* for letting me drive ya CrAzY for two whole minutes! LOL! (((((HUGS))))) sandi~now can you fly the banner without all the mumbo jumbo? Like alone with no title and join the ring? Or is that bad internet etiquette?

Hello, I have a problem with my widget as well. I try to save my Youtube playlist (embed the HTML code) in a text widget but I could not see anything in my page. Should I change something in the code? Please, if You have any idea inform me! Thanks!
-
This is what I found in the FAQs http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/29/how-do-i-post-a-youtube-video/
-
Thank You thistimethisspace! I already tried it. But it is not working in sidebar text widget. When I saved it, I just saw the code on my blog instead of the video. I dont know why it is not working.
-
You can’t post YouTubes into your sidebar as far as I know. You can put them in your posts, or you can use the VodPod widget to display your videos in your sidebar, but you can’t just have one YouTube in your sidebar as far as I’m aware. Most sidebars aren’t wide enough anyway.
You can ONLY use the special coding in the thread thistimethisspace has given you to post YouTubes. No other code, including playlist codes, will work.

Thank You for your reply! I am so sad that I cannot write HTML code in the text widget. ˇ_ˇI already put the code in my netvibes and I just wanted to share my videos on my blog as well! (I tried the VodPOd as well but it is not the same at all.)
-
You can indeed put HTML in the text widgets. You just can’t put the HTML for embeds, because embeds are stripped out.
But your videos would all be cut off right in the middle anyway if you put them in your sidebar. Put them in blog posts, like I do. Some of them get MAJOR hits.
A reminder to use the specific WordPress code to insert the videos: you’ll find that in the FAQ if you search for Video.

Finally I put the VodPod on my blog and it is quite nice. Thanks for all of the replies! ^_^
