Cannot figure out how to add categories to my blogs.

I am new to blogging and to wordpress. I have read all your information on adding categories to my blogs. I have made a few categories but don’t know how to link the blog. I would like to be able to categorize it when I write the blog.

Are you asking how to set the category for a post when you are creating it? Or are you asking how to create a link to a list of posts within a category? Or are you asking about something else that I am somehow misunderstanding?
Happy to help, I just need a little more info.

I am talking about how to make a category for my blog before I write it or whenever. I tried making a category, after the post, think I did, called Air Conditioning or AC, but don’t know how to link it.Thanks

First, log into your WordPress.com site’s Dashboard.
To create a category:
Click on Posts–>Categories on the left hand side. The page you are taken to will have an “add new category” box. Enter the name of the category you wish to create, leave “parent” as “none”, and enter a short description of the category. Then click “add new category” and you are done.
To categorize a post:
Again from the dashboard, click on Posts–>Add New to create a new post. Look in the right hand column, the 3rd item down will be “categories” and you will see a list of any categories you have created using the instructions above. Click any category you wish to add the post to, write your post as usual, and click publish. That’s all.
