CANNOT FIND DOMAIN ADMINISTRATION

@elohime5
Why couldn’t you just say I have to have purchased an upgrade to begin with.
If you had answered me above I would have provided the relevant information more quickly. I said:
Please post the URL starting with http:// to the blog in question if it isn’t http://cityonahill.weebly.com/

i’m actually having the same problem. It’s telling me there is a problem with the DNS and to go to domain administration. I follow the steps under store -> domains and it’s not there.

Hi Melanie. Have you already purchased the Domain addon by going to Dashboard -> Store -> Domains?
If so, can you please let us know the exact error you are receiving?
-
@melaniecolosimo
Although melaniecolosimo.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domainAfter you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

@timethief I ran a whois both at WHOIS.com and and Godaddy.com, and both of them show the nameservers set to the ns1.wordpress.com and ns2.wordpress.com, which is correct.
The guide also lists ns3.wordpress.com. Is that required for the Domain addon to recognize that the domain is pointed to wordpress.com?
-
I know it’s not using WordPress.com nameservers. I’m not sure how that happened. I purchased my .com through wordpress then purchased a redirect to send to my weebly site. The error I am receiving is:
“DNS Needs to be updated” in red. I click on it and get:
“Your nameservers need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for these DNS records to work. If you have already updated the nameservers you can ignore this message; it will stop appearing soon.”
I am trying to get to the domain administration page to fix the name servers but I can’t find it. I click on domains under store and then i’m stuck on adding a domain or updating.
When i first purchased the redirect everything was working great for about a month. It’s only recently that I noticed that it’s not working.

I’ve tagged this thread so a Staff member can take a look at your account. I see that the domain was registered through Wild West domains, which is the registrar that WordPress.com uses to register domains.
-
-
PS (For the mod) I noticed in the WHOIS that a status of “redemptionPeriod” is listed on the domain, which was originally registered in 2010. It appears that the domain has possibly expired.

Understood. According to WHOIS.com, the domain expired in March of 2013 and has not been renewed. A staff member will need to take a look at your account to see what happened. It’s possible it is renewed, but the change hasn’t propagated across the internet yet.
-
Your domain melaniecolosimo.com expired on March 15. Before it expired, we sent email warnings and displayed notifications on your dashboard.
Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order. You can learn more about expired domains here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/
The good news is that we may still be able to recover your domain if it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else. A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by the domain registry and is not one which we can waive.
I’ll send further details to the email address on your account.
-
this is ridiculous. how come i was still able to purchase it? and have uninterrupted service until now. an 80$??!?! It was only 18$ to purchase it.
Yes contact me via email. I am DONE with this forum and done with wordpress. I’ve had NOTHING but scams and overselling and errors for the last year.
-
The fee is imposed by our registrar for the domain that was allowed to expire 49 days ago.

Snark! You must be kidding. The only snarkiness I have seen in this thread has been yours.
