Cannot fully costumize menu

  • Unknown's avatar

Using WordPress for free and the Balasana theme. I want to change the colors of the menu buttons and put the site title next to the logo (not below it). In all the tutorials I’ve seen, the customization of the menu works by clicking on Appearance > Customize, and then on the left there should be options like ‘Layout’, ‘Colors & Background’, ‘Typography’, and so on. However, I only get the options ‘Site Identity’, ‘Menus’, ‘CSS’, ‘Widgets’, ‘Homepage Settings’, and ‘AMP’. None of which help me to customize what I just said. Is this because of the theme? Or because I’m using the free version?

  • Hi there!

In all the tutorials I’ve seen, the customization of the menu works by clicking on Appearance > Customize, and then on the left there should be options like ‘Layout’, ‘Colors & Background’, ‘Typography’, and so on.

The tutorials you’ve been watching were most probably referring to self-hosted WordPress.org sites – things work a bit different there.

On WordPress.com, the options you see will depend on the theme you’re using and also on the plan you have.

If you’re looking for more WordPress.com tutorials, I’d suggest checking out this page:
