Cannot get API key to set up Akismet

  When I try and configure the Akismet plugin, I receive the error message: “There was a problem connecting to the Akismet server. Please check your server configuration.” I use GoDaddy as my hosting service.

  I think you are in the wrong forum. This is wordpress.com, you need to be over at wordpress.org

  Hey Wavetown! I can point you in the right direction for this one!

  My API key doesn't work!
  
  We get this pretty often, try these steps:
  
      * Try the key again, after a few minutes.
      * Type in the key instead of copying and pasting it.
      * Ensure that your host can make outgoing HTTP requests to akismet.com. (Many hosts block or firewall outgoing connections.)
