Cannot get blue logo to open

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi – I cannot get the blue logo to open, even though the menu does work. How can I get the blue text to open directly? Thanks, Ethel

  • Hi @etheldavies3d , I’ve moved your question to its own topic. Can you share a link to your site, and clarify which blue logo you’re clicking? Thank you in advance!

For http://www.doublevisionarts.co.uk (or doublevisionarts.wordpress.com) sometimes the blue button works and sometimes it doesn’t, although it does connect well via the menu. How can get the blue button to work, too? Also, is there a way I can click on each image on each page to enlarge it? Thanks Ethel

  • Hi Ethel –

Thanks for those details. I’m looking at the site on my end and have made a few notes to share.

The links that are tied to those blue buttons on your site aren’t set up properly. They are linking back to an internal page, rather than a public facing view. If it’s okay with you, I can go ahead and get those changed and then outline that process so you know for the future.

For example, the Faces button links to this page: https://wordpress.com/page/doublevisionarts.wordpress.com/224
That is the editing page from with in your account. This is not something folks who are visiting can see or view. You will want to replace that link with https://doublevisionarts.wordpress.com/faces/

At the bottom of the page I noticed that you have a gmail address listed. This is an easy way to invite lots of spam and potential issues to the security of that account. My suggestion is to set up a custom email address and use your contact form. It will be much harder for any bots to get your actual email address when it’s hidden in a form flow versus being listed outright on the site. Does that make sense? We have more details about custom emails on this page below. It’s an affordable way to build trust with customers and enhance branding.

The last thing I want to ask about is your plan for selling prints through the site. That seems to be the intention when viewing it, but I couldn’t actually find anywhere to buy them. We should work on getting you set up with a business plan so you can integrate an ecommerce solution and make it easy for folks to buy your prints. You’ll see the details and pricing of that plan below. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Ethel – I went ahead and put that plan in your cart with a coupon code. By no means are you obligated to make that purchase but I wanted to make sure it was easy for you see the pricing with that code.

    Hi Zinnia –

I’m still confused. Can you go ahead and make those changes and then tell me how to proceed? I don’t seem to be able to do them myself at the moment – perhaps I’m missing a step?

The business plan is a bit too rich for me at the moment. Is there a way of getting plug-ins at a lower cost?

    Thanks, Ethel

  • Hey Ethel,

No problem! I’ve made those changes for you and this is how It was done.

It’s not possible to use plugins on a plan lesser than the business plan.

That said, as you’re just getting started, it is possible to sell at a more basic level on the Premium plan, using the Pay With PayPal block: https://wordpress.com/support/pay-with-paypal/

It may be worth considering for the time being, as it could get you selling your prints, to a point where the business plan is needed and justified.

I hope this is all useful info.

Thank you so much for helping me sort things out. I’ll think about the enhanced plans. Ethel

  • Hi there, Ethel!

Sounds like a plan :-) The Business plan could be a great option for what you have in mind. If you can share a bit more about your site, we’d be happy to provide a plan recommendation. We want to make sure you select the right plan for what you have in mind.

For example, what is the primary purpose of your site? What specific features or functionalities would you like to have on your website?

Let me know if you have any questions!
