cannot get domain set up

the blog above isn’t really correct, but no matter. When I get to your search for a domain name page in the easy-auto setup procedure, it just doesn’t do anything. This is just past the opening page theme selection page.

I type in a domain name and nothing happens…return, enter, clik on magglass, etc. nothing works. There’s no obvious way to proceed. I’ve tried every possible combo.

  • Hi there,

If the domain suggestion page isn’t giving you any suggestions, it’s possible all the code on that page didn’t load properly. Can you please try clearing your browser cache and cookies, and make sure you have JavaScript enabled in your browser. Then try again.

    Browser Issues

Let me know if that doesn’t help.

This is not really helpful. According to Firefox, Javascript is automatically enabled in their browser. I’m using 50.1.0. I cleared the cache and cookies yesterday before I contacted you…no change occurred. I’ll try this again, but am skeptical it will make a difference.

I’ve done all of this again an there has been no change.
I even created an exception for wordpress.com for not blocking pop up windows.
Your site behaves exactly the same. I get to step 4 of 5: Let’s find a domain…type in freeman-jewell.wordpress.com, and can get no further.

  • JavaScript is enabled by default in FF, but there are browser extensions that could be blocking it. Do you have any ad blockers or antivirus extensions installed? Try starting Firefox in Safe mode. If the page works there, then it’s most likely an extension causing the problem.

Failing that, I’ll need you to check the browser console for any errors for me.

    Advanced Browser Troubleshooting

You can upload the screen shots to your media library so I can see them:

If possible, also check if this is working for you in another browser like Chrome or Safari. If it doesn’t work there either, it would point to a connection problem, in which case see if using a different connection makes any difference.
