Cannot get Jetpack to connect externally after plugin activation

Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [IXR -32300: transport error: http_request_failed Recv failure: Connection reset by peer]. I have read numerous threads about deactivating W3 cache, stat counter,etc. and still getting the same error.
Any suggstion sowuld be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. However after following all the possible steps in the troubleshooting guide I still receive the same connect error from JetPack.
Any other thoughts?

I am using the Weaver II Pro theme but I do not have visibility issues. Just thought I’d add that.

Sometimes, theme functions can interfere like plugin functions.
Please try with the Twenty Eleven theme temporarily activated.

De-activated all plug-ins and switched to twenty-eleven theme. Still no luck. This is geting frustrating now and I am grasping at straws.
Is the out-bound to wordpress.com using standard http port? I am checking my firewall activity to see if it getting blocked somehow.

Yes, we use the standard port 80.
At this point, my recommendation is to try the connection again (so you have a specific date and time), then check for what’s in both your firewall log and server error log at that specific time.
