Cannot get new menu items to show up (Ubud template)
-
I went through every step on your Create Custom Menus page and my new menu items still are not displaying on my page. I created the new menu, added a category to the menu, and Saved. I would like this and other menus to display to the right of About, as appears on the Ubud demo (http://ubuddemo.wordpress.com). Here is my page: http://janetchristian.wordpress.com
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there! Thanks for the links. They’re very helpful in display what you want your site to look like.
It looks like you’e only partially created a custom menu. Let’s finish it up:
- Click the following:
https://janetchristian.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php - You have added a menu item called Plates and added it properly. Now, in order to complete the menu, you’ll have to add “Home” and “About” to the custom menu as well.
- To create the Home menu item, click Links. Where it asks for your URL, paste the following:
http://janetchristian.wordpress.com
Where you are asked for Link Text, type: “Home.”
Then click “Add to Menu.” - Next, add the About menu item. Click Pages. Click on “About” and then “Add to Menu.”
- Drag those menu labels in any order you want them to appear.
- Finally, to install the menu: Where you see “Theme locations,” you should choose “Primary Menu.”
- Save your Menu.
That should install your custom menu on your home page. Please let me know if you have any problems with this and I’m happy to help! Thank you.

Thank you! That was very helpful. I can now add the rest of my menu items. Just to clarify — once I have menu items, clicking on that menu will show all Posts that use the menu’s category? I want to be sure what I think will happen is what will actually happen before I spend hours adding posts and defining categories and menus.

Terrific!
I don’t blame you for not wanting to waste your time. Smart lady. Let’s say you add fifteen Posts to your Category “Plates.” When you click on the menu item, “Plates,” those fifteen blog entries will show up on that page.
You can add other Categories, of course, and you’re welcome to add a Post to more than one category.
Here’s some more information about Categories, if you haven’t yet seen this document:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/I recommend linking a small handful of Posts to a Category to start. Test out the process and results before leaping into making major time-consuming changes.
Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much and happy blogging!
