Hi!
Could you let me know the blog address you’re exporting from and the one you’re exporting to?
-
Downloaded from the main blog to my mac and then uploaded from the mac to the test site as per the article

Hi!
Can you try this export/import process one more time?
Since it’s WordPress.com to WordPress.com, the files should definitely be compatible.
-
Jeremy, I tried again and still the same problem.
So I tried importing from another WP blog I have and it is now being processed…
This made me check all the exports for all my WP blogs.
All the WORDPRESS.com blogs have KB values – but my WP format .COM blog (my main blog) has ZERO value.
I bought this .com through WP…
Is THIS why I cannot export and import it? -
JEREMY – I’ve realised what the problem was!!!
My blog SIZE was too large to download all at one time, so I’ve downloaded the Posts in increments…Apr to Dec 2014, Jan to June 2014, Jul to Dec 2014, etc. (and put each of them into a separate folder to remind what they are lol)
So at least I don’t need to worry about THEM any more :)
The Pages and Feedback I was able to download for the duration I’ve had my blog.
I’ll only need to update Pages as and when I change or add to them.
Feedback will be updated daily.
I have no intention of deleting my main blog, so my only worry about the images I’ve stored in media, is that I can’t back THEM up, but I suspect WP are working on that. -
Jeremy,
Because most of my followers and visitors are authors with WordPress blogs (and I remind them often about doing backups of their work and blogs), I put out a blog post about this issue and how to solve it.
Please check it out and let me know if I’ve misinformed them in any way.
Many thanks for helping me resolve the problem :) -
I’m glad you were able to get this worked out! File size can indeed be an issue. Could you point me to the blog post you mention? Happy to read it over!

Thanks for creating this! That’s a great bit of troubleshooting for exports/imports. Just a note, users on WordPress.com don’t need to worry about backups as we take care of them. Self-hosted sites should definitely have a backup in place. We have a service called VaultPress that works extremely well:

So I don’t really need to do back ups for my main blog, only the wordpress, com ones Jeremy?
I think I’ll do my own as well anyway – belt and braces (suspenders) job lol
Thanks for taking the time to view the article – I’ll also put it into my Author Resources Central for future reference :) -

You shouldn’t need a backup at all for any WordPress.com blog, just self-hosted sites using WordPress.org software. We have backups upon backups for your WordPress.com site.
With that said, you’re welcome to export your site at various periods just in case.
