Cannot log in

I long had problems where every few days I would not be recognised by my site, and would have to refresh to get rid of the ‘follow’ sign at the bottom right of the screen. I got no useful help from WordPress on how to resolve this. It happened with all browsers and deleting cookies etc made no difference.
For the last week, I simply cannot log in. I can access my WordPress stats etc, but I cannot read my own website as an owner. If I try to log in again, my site still regards me as a visitor.
I’m really getting weary of the deterioration of WordPress. I’ve put a lot if time and effort into my webpage and, as much as I wish to walk away from bad service, I’m stuck for the moment.
Can someone please explain what is going on. And yes, I’ve tried deleting cookies and logging in again. No change.
Apologies for any typos – this screen does not fit on my Android screen and won’t zoom or wrap, so I can’t see half of what I’ve written.. Another ‘imporovement’ no doubt!

It looks like this is only an issue on the Android device. Is that right?
Let’s double check and rule out any browser issues first.
– is there an update needed?
– any extensions enabled?
– does clearing the cache make a difference? -

I can confirm that I do not have the issue when logging in from a Windows PC (though for the last year or two it has forgotten me after a few days which it never used to do).
But as for the Android, the problem persists. Clearing browsing history and cookies has made no difference.

To clarify, you are trying to log in (on Android) using the browser and going to https://wordpress.com/log-in/
Or are you using the WordPress App for Android and having issues connecting to your site from there?
If you are using the browser on your phone, what if you try to visit https://wordpress.com/log-in/ in an “incognito window” and try to access from there.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am using the Opera web browser, which I have been using for more than a year.
No difference in afraid. If I log in from the link, I can access my profile, WP Admin, but as soon as I try to access my site (just view the pages etc), I get the ‘Follow’ popup and I’m recording my own visit in stats. Very annoying.
Makes no difference whether I use a regular tab or a private / incognito / VPN tab. Same thing.

Can you confirm whether this issue happens in another browser? I’m wondering if Opera made some changes recently. I noticed at least their desktop version was changed very recently.
