Cannot log in via phone!

I’ve always been able to log into wordpress on my phone browser (chrome) or even within the twitter app when the app shows a tweet that’s a link to a wordpress post. The log in page has always appeared and I’ve always been able to log in but now it doesn’t work. I get to the log in page but there’s just a blue banner at the top and the place for the log in box and submit button is just grey.
To be clear I am not talking about the wordpress app. I want to be able to view my site via the browser but doing so while logged out counts towards views and I’d like to keep an accurate record of visitors and not have myself counted all the time.
Please fix this, it seems to have happened since the whole GDPR thing came in.

Just to add when using the wordpress app and clicking on view my site it sends me to the browser on my phone, ergo the need for me to be able to log in so I don’t count as a visitor in the stats.

Hasn’t anyone else experienced this? The log in page shows with the blue banner and the wordpress W in front of a white background…and that’s it :( I really need to access wordpress with a phone browser.
Where can I report this problem?

It would be great if you could try a couple of things for me:
- Try logging in using another browser to check whether this issue is specific to Chrome.
- Connect to a different network — for example, home or work rather than cellular data.
it seems to have happened since the whole GDPR thing came in.
GDPR changes won’t have affected the login form so the issue you are having with logging in isn’t related to that :)
Let me know how you get on and we can go from there.

I still seem to be having issues no matter what I try. I know the GDPR thing is a new feature, the cookie widget/banner has had issues on wordpress in general. I’ve noticed this log in issue only happened after the cookie widget issue also begun. Prior to the GDPR thing happening I had no issues logging in. I regularly log in and out of the browser on my phone as I have an old account on wordpress I still check messages on from time to time, but its only when GDPR started causing issues with the programming of wordpress that I started having problems logging in :(
ps I also tried clearing cache, cookies, history and allowing pop ups (just in case) nothing seems to fix this.

@mypeacockbooks what kind of phone are you using? I’ve just tested this on Android without an issue. Granted, I’m not in Europe.
Let us know what phone you’re using and we’ll give this a try.
Also, you mentioned Chrome. Have you tried Firefox to see if it makes any difference? Usually blue banner + nothing but the W = JavaScript issues, in my experience.

I’m using Android on my phone, it’s not the latest Android though, could that be the issue?

Whoops I thought I had a later android, turns out it’s lollipop. I’m guessing that’s too old. Just strange as it worked until the other week. I’m also seeing no way I can update the phone, despite trying to and manufacturer’s website is useless :( Do I need to get a new phone (by the way I’m useless at knowing how to transfer things to a new phone, never had to before-always started anew-is it even possible)?

So I’ve tried installing a new browser after realising it was Chrome 39!! I tried updating that, downloaded several other browser apps, and still the same thing happens. The blue WP bar at the top with the white background below, but no login box. I’ll try the screen shot and try to upload that but the fact that an alternate browser that’s fully updated as well as the latest Chrome doesn’t work, just doesn’t make sense…:(

All you have to do with a new phone is access your same account through WordPress.com via web browser or the Android app. Your account will still be there.

Yes but I’m trying to use this phone and am stumped as to why the app works but the browser log in doesn’t.

Hi there,
What version number of Chrome do you have now? The newest version is 67.

Are you able to log in there?
If that works, it means either your mobile browser is blocking JavaScript, or your browser version is now too old to support all the code the login page uses to work. But that link I gave above uses the old login page, and should still work on older browsers.

It’s working thank you, I tried that login page on my phone and it works although it’s up to date. Must be some problem with my phone blocking it but thank you :)
