Cannot log into desktop app with my .org account

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post but I’m a lost new WordPresser. I do have a website and it’s on .org. Anyway so I want to usw the best interace I can, naturallly. The desktop app, which is I believe called Calypso and is coded in Javascript, is the best interface, I hear. And I like how it seems. BUT my .org website isn’t recognized.
PS Is it because WP isn’t my host that I’m having this problem? My hosting provider certainly isn’t able to provide Calypso.
PPS Is my problem related to not having Jetpack. PLEASE someone let me know which version of Jetpack is the one that can get me Calypso, if I’m even making sense right now. If I sound confusing, it’s because I’m confused too. :[

If you want to connect your wordpress.org website you must install Jetpack on your wordpress.org website – https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/ – and connect it to your wordpress.com account.
Next you must install the WordPress app on your computer and connect it to your wordpress.com account, https://apps.wordpress.com/desktop/
