The account that you’re currently logged in with uses a different email address than the ones that you have provided.
If you’ve lost the password to your other WordPress.com account, here’s how you can reset it: https://wordpress.com/support/passwords/#lost-password
I am in a bit of a hurry asI want to prove to a new account that I can come up to speed quickly on wordpress so I can migrate their shopify site to a wordpress site.
Are you looking to create a new account for a client, and migrate your local install to WordPress.com?
If yes, here’s what I recommend:
- Have your client create a new WordPress.com account by following this link: https://wordpress.com/start/account/user
- They can create a new site, and grant you administrator access. Here’s how: https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/
- If you’re using any plugins (e.g. WooCommerce) or third-party themes on your local WordPress.org environment, the client will need to upgrade to a Business plan or higher
And to migrate the local site (I recommend using the All-in-One WP Migration plugin), please follow these instructions:
- Install the plugin on both sites: https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/
- Also on your local site, deactivate all plugins except All-in-One WP Migration
- Ensure that there is a user account (visit
/wp-admin/users.php) on this site with the same username/email combination to match your WordPress.com account - Export your site, following the plugin documentation
- On WordPress.com, import your site using the plugin
- Contact us again to restore your Jetpack connection
More things to keep in mind:
- The import may not be a perfect copy
- This plugin overwrites existing database files, which can cause problems on our modified WordPress.com platform that may not be easy to fix
- Not every plugin that is on the other site will work on WordPress.com. Please review the list of incompatible plugins here and delete any of them from the site before exporting: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incompatible-plugins/
- Please make sure all admin users’ email addresses on the old site match the emails of the WordPress.com users before migrating
Once you’ve imported your site, you’ll need to either email us at help@wordpress.com or visit live chat, as we’ll need to reconnect your Jetpack plugin.
I hope that helps and please reach out again if you have any further questions.
