cannot login after changing settings

    I have been paying for a personal site for 16 years. First with Yahoo business and then it migrated to WordPress. I went into my wordpress admin today and updated some stuff. My homepage reverted to the blog page with nothing on it. I tried to switch it to my previous page http://www.brianenglish.net/index.html but it did not work. I may have typed ‘index.html’ after the email address in the settings. Either way, I messed up something and cannot get in my admin page and my email is not recognized when I try to login to the website. Please help as I want to update the whole website for my professional use.

    Hi there,

    Your site at brianenglish.net is still hosted with Yahoo. It’s built using the open source WordPress software, made over on WordPress.org, but that software is installed on Yahoo’s servers.

    The forum you’re posting to here is for WordPress.com, another hosting provider for that software, and your site is not hosted with us, so we have no control over it. We only have control over your free site at https://brianszemi.wordpress.com/ which you created with us in July 2020, when you created this WordPress.com username account.

    Please contact Yahoo’s support directly for help regaining access to your admin account for the site or for help restoring the site to a previous version.

    For general help and advice with the version of WordPress you’re using, you can ask the WordPress.org community in their forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ – note that they also don’t have access to your site, so can only advise, not fix things or make any changes for you. That type of support can only be provided by your hosting provider.
