This usually happens when your browsers are mixing up the login sessions between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. They are separate platforms WordPress.com uses your WP.com account, while WordPress.org needs you to log in through your hosting provider’s dashboard or your site’s
/wp-adminpage.Try this:
- Make sure you’re going to your site’s direct login URL like
yourdomain.com/wp-login.phpor/wp-admin. - Clear cookies again or use private/incognito mode.
- Don’t use the WordPress.com login page for your .ORG site it won’t work.

I tried your recommendation:
- Make sure you’re going to your site’s direct login URL like yourdomain.com/wp-login.php or /wp-admin: Yes, I’m sure.
- Clear cookies again or use private/incognito mode: Yes, I tried on Chrome, clearing cookies and using incognito mode — did not work.
- Don’t use the WordPress.com login page for your .ORG site (it won’t work):
- I tried /wp-login.php and /wp-admin,
- and when I try /admin I get redirected to my .COM site login page!
So I downloaded and install a brand new browser (no cookies, cookies allowed, no Gmail account on it… all new) and tried again.
Same problem!
I also made some screenshots so you can have a better understanding.

Here’s a polished version of a forum-style reply based on the discussion you shared:
Subject: Cannot log in to my WordPress.org site — keeps redirecting to WordPress.com
Reply:
Hi yosoysaraelba,
I encountered the same issue: trying to access my WordPress.org site’s dashboard consistently redirected me to the WordPress.com login page—even after clearing cookies, switching browsers, and using incognito mode.
From the replies in the thread:
nathanzayne’s suggestion:
“This usually happens when your browsers are mixing up the login sessions between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. They are separate platforms—WordPress.com uses your WP.com account, while WordPress.org needs you to log in through your hosting provider’s dashboard or your site’s

Your own troubleshooting:
You confirmed:
- You used
yourdomain.com/wp-login.phpand/wp-admin, but these still redirected you to the WordPress.com login. - Empty cookies, incognito mode, even a brand-new browser—nothing helped.
- You even tested on a completely fresh setup (new browser with no cookies or other accounts) but the issue persisted.
- You shared screenshots for better context. (WordPress.com)
Your solution:
You later discovered that the problem was a misconfiguration in your
wp-config.phpfile. Once you corrected that, the login issue resolved.(WordPress.com)TL;DR Recap: Step Action Outcome 1. Attempted login via
/wp-login.phpor/wp-adminRedirected to WordPress.com 2. Cleared cookies, tested in incognito and fresh browser No change 3. Identified misconfiguration inwp-config.phpResolved login issueKey Takeaway:
If your WordPress.org login keeps redirecting to WordPress.com, it’s often due to a configuration issue—especially in files likewp-config.php. Always verify your site’s paths and login constants there. Unlike WordPress.com, WordPress.org relies solely on your own hosting setup and site files. If you need help reviewing your
