cannot login to "Preview" on the iPad version

    I keep getting error “incorrect password” when trying to login to the Preview section of the iPad app. I’ve never before seen a separate request just for the Preview feature, only one password to sign into the app itself. The web version on computer works fine. Additionally, on the iPhone version a different error appears: no blog are available at all! Apparently the Preview function on both apps is broken. Please advise!!!

    Sorry you’re experiencing these troubles. I’ve tested your issue on several mobile devices, and I’m not seeing the problem.

    Is your iOS and your version of WordPress’s app entirely up to date? Let me know the version of both the iOS and mobile app on your iPad. Also, please let me know which iPad model you’re using.

    Hi Robyn,

    Running latest version of apps and iOS:

    iOS 8.2 (12D508)

    WordPress mobile app – iPad/iPhone 4.8.1

    iPhone is 4S – 32GB

    iPad is iPad3 – 64GB

    I see that now (many hours later) both iPhone and iPad are working correctly. I must assume there was some issues with your servers that did not correctly process sessions with both mobile devices?? Let me know if any of the log files would be helpful in figuring out what went wrong.

    Hi Robyn,

    You asked that I follow up if this issue recurs… It keeps happening (on both iPad and iPhone) at fairly regular intervals… every few days or so. It self-corrects after 3-6 hours, but is quite annoying. It does not happen on my PC.

    I’m now having another issue today: I cannot insert any media into a post!! I can upload to the Media Library, but any attempt to add media to any post fails. No error message, just nothing is placed. Any ideas??

    Is you issue with the Media insertion happening on your PC, or mobile device? I tested on a desktop computer:

    If you are working on a PC, could you also try the upload on Chrome or Firefox, rather than Safari?

    Regarding the mobile issue, are you always on the same wifi when you attempt this action, or are you using different wifi each time? If you could give me more clues about the different connections you use, that would be a great help.

    Thanks for reply. (Interesting but I can’t see the body of your message on any mobile device, only a PC…)

    The Media Insertion issue was on my PC. I finally managed to get it to work with the following steps:

    · I first tried closing the edit session after saving draft then reopening – still failed. I tried other media, not just the one I was trying to insert – nothing would ‘place’.

    · I then closing and logging out of WordPress site entirely, then logged back in and tried again – still failed.

    · I finally logged off, closed browser, force cleared the cache and Windows swap file (with my wiping application), rebooted the PC, logged back on… was finally able to place items. How persistent can something in the cache for your site mess this up??BTW, I mostly use IE11 (latest patched version) – it usually works just fine. I have also tried Chrome (Version 41.0.2272.118 m) which works but it formats differently and I prefer the ‘look and feel’ of IE.

    As to the mobile issue, this is always on the same WiFi (my home office). My PC, iPad, iPhone always share same network. My connection is a 25Mbps (minimum, often get 35-50 Mbps) symmetrical ‘fixed wireless’ directly to a Tier1 provider here in Cape Town, South Africa. I have very good latency and general responsiveness considering the distance. I use a US-based DNS server so I ‘appear’ to be located in California. Latency runs about 350ms – which BTW means that I normally write with Word and paste text only into WP and format there – the latency is a bit too much to write online directly.

    Hello!

    When media insertion is acting up on a desktop, it’s normally not a caching problem, but a problem with the Javascript in your browser not behaving as expected. The next time this occurs, could you please follow these steps to check for Javascript console errors?

    Advanced Browser Troubleshooting

    Once you have those screenshots, add them to your media library and let us know. We’ll take a look.

    Back to the mobile issue:

    I think part of this issue here is it looks like the “incorrect password” error is getting displayed for a few different things, not just incorrect passwords at the login screen. One of those situations is a 404 error page.

    Let me ask you this, did you see the Preview error issue on http://parasam.me/ or a self-hosted site?
