cannot login to site

Hi,
I cannot login to the site itself. I can login to the dashboard. Resetting my password didn’t solve the issue. As the site owner I should be able to sign in directly. In the past, site access via dashboard was automatically granted, but no more (asks for login which then fails).Help needed!

I am going to ask you a couple of questions to understand the situation a little better. Is the site you are trying to login to managed by the same account that you used to login to the dashboard with? If so then my understanding is exactly the same as yours – you should be able to navigate to any of the sites you are the owner for as long as they are managed by the account you are logged into.
If you can confirm then that would be great! I’ve also went ahead and added the “modlook” tag to this thread so one of the moderators or a staff member can take a peek into your account. Yes, the login details are the same.
It’s also weird that I am asked for login even when accessing through the dashboard.
I highly appreciate that you forwarded the issue to the site staff.

It’s a protected site. Just to clarify, are you facing problem in accessing this site while logged out of WordPress.com or are you facing problem in accessing this site while you are logged into your WordPress.com account as well?

The site is currently set on private, that’s correct. As mentioned in my first post, I cannot login, even when being logged in to the site dashboard. I cannot see the site. When working at it first time, I could automatically see my site via the dashboard and was automatically logged in. I hope this clarifies the problem.

To reply in short – i have the problem also when being logged in.
Plus – I should be able to login when being asked, right? As the site owner. -

Hi Jutta –
I think the best course forward is for me to see what you’re experiencing. Could you capture a screen shot of where you’re unable to sign in at? Add that to your media library and I’ll be able to see it. Or you can share it here via a CloudUp link. Just be sure there isn’t any sensitive information open in your browser when you do that.

Hi Liz,
I have uploaded two pictures to the media library, one of the dashboard where the link to view my site the leads to the login screen (pic2). I then cannot login.
My problem:
a) I never had that login screen coming up before
b) I cannot login
So previewing my site via my dashboard is not possible which is not good when working on it.
I can login into my wordpress account just fine.Thanks again,

@juttaklassen are you going to https://wordpress.com/view/juttaklassen.com ? I tried logging in as you and can see the site preview there.
Also I wonder if your browser is blocking cookies. Can you head here to see if 3rd party cookies are enabled?

Hi, my apologies for taking so long to reply. I was travelling. Just a quick note that the problem disappeared when I got a new PC this week. It seems there was some bug interfering with my site access.

I’m glad you’ve got this worked out. If you need help fixing it on the old PC, let us know. My guess though is that if the PC is old, your browser may be long out of date, which could cause issues.
