Cannot login to website; passwords confirmed in phpAdmin
-
I’ve been running WordPress for my site casually for years now and did the usual updates in January 2025. I attempted to login for basic maintenance in March and couldn’t log in. The installation account and both admin accounts were rejected.
I logged into the host’s cPanel and went into the myPHP database and used the login credentials listed there. All were rejected. I tried Firefox and Chrome, both with clear caches.
I logged into the WordPress installation from the cPanel and got in as the default admin. I got the updates done, then updated one of the admin logins to see if the password would stick. Logged out, tried logging in from wp_admin, and was rejected. Fresh password, as applied from the Dashboard. Password reset emails never arrive. What in the hell?

Basic WordFence and JetPack installations if that means anything.
MySQL databases, WordPress installation, all plugins are up to date.
