Cannot make changes

  I have been trying to update my featured image on my sites homepage and tho I can see it there and I hit update, when I go to the site, the old image is there. Then it says things like cannot save, or cannot uplaod and then does not tell me why! How am I supposed to figure this out when it does not tell me what I am doing wrong???
