cannot map domain
-
I’m trying to map thelivingroomzoo.co.uk to my wordpress blog, it has already been used with moonfruit. When I try to map, it says it cannot be registered with wordpress, I have no idea how to go about fixing this.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The domain thelivingroomzoo.co.uk was registered with a different domain registrar already, but it isn’t mapped to WordPress.com site. If you already own that domain (because you registered it somewhere else) you can map it to your WordPress.com site from the Domains page.
If you don’t already own that domain, then it isn’t available for you to use here at WordPress.com. You’ll need to pick a new, unique domain name to use with your blog.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

To map a domain you already own with a WordPress.com blog, follow these instructions carefully:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domainIf you are still having trouble, can you tell me which step from that list you’re getting stuck on and can you copy and paste the exact error message you’re seeing in a reply here?
It sounds like you might have been searching for a domain when actually you need to click the “Map It” button first and also update the DNS through the company where you purchased the domain to point it to the WordPress.com servers. The link above should help, but let me know if you still have questions after you look over the steps.

I own the domain name, and I cannot map it via the domain page, hence why I’m asking.
When I try, it says that it cannot be registered with wordpress. I’ve cancelled the moonfruit website, I’m not sure what else to do.

Hi!
The domain cannot be registered at WordPress.com, but since you already own it, you can map it to your account. Just follow these steps:
1. Start on this page:
2. Select the site you want to map the domain to.
3. Instead of typing the domain in the top search field, click the “Map It” option shown here:
4. Enter the domain on the next page and continue through the payment process.
Can you give that a try? Once you’ve setup the mapping, you’ll want to change the name servers to point to WordPress.com as instructed here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#how-to-change-your-name-servers

I’ve already been through this process, as soon as I type the domain name in, it comes up with the error above. I had no problems doing this before with another blog page.
I spoke to 123 reg who I bought the domain from, and they advised to speak to who hosts the website, so I’m currently trying to do that to see if that works.

That’s odd – I just completed the steps under your account, and it seemed to work for me. I added £11.00 in free credits to your account then followed the steps listed previously. You should see the domain now here:
https://thelivingroomzoo.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Can you let me know if you see the domain listed there?
Now, in order for thelivingroomzoo.co.uk to work correctly, you’ll need to change the name servers as previously mentioned. This would need to be done at the registrar where you purchased the domain. It looks like 123-Reg has instructions for doing that here:
https://www.123-reg.co.uk/support/answers/how-do-i-change-the-nameservers-for-my-domain-name-1206/
Can you give those a try?

Excellent right, I’ve now managed to list my domain name as primary domain for my blog, thank you. I’ve updated the nameservers on 123 reg, when I type the website in it is still bringing up the old website, but I’m under the impression it can take 48 hours to update, is that correct?
Thanks again

The domain seems to be working on my side now. It can take a bit of time for the name servers to become effective. Can you try clearing your cache and see if the new page loads correctly?
I’ve also sent a manual payment request to your email address for the cost of the domain mapping. Let me know if you don’t receive it!
